Widows are often rendered homeless after the death of their husbands either by loss of property to the relatives of their late husbands, greedy landlords who hike the prices of rent or the inability to meet up with the ever increasing standard of living in an economy plagued by inflation. As a widow myself, i am aware of this struggle and in Nigeria, landlords prefer not to rent out their houses to unmarried women so when we have a roof over our heads, we do all we can to hold on to it; thus the rental support comes in. May 2023, fifty one (51) widows and three (3) single mothers had their rent paid and were saved from homelessness. We had a goal of 5million naira for fifty (50) widows at a hundred thousand naira (#100,000)each and we surpassed it; thanks to the kindness of our donors and Nemax foundation, a US based NGO that gave us a grant of #2,164,000.00. We raised #6.164,000.00 that covered the full rent for some of the widows and a hundred thousand naira for the remaining widows.
