Our Story
Patrick Stephen Purple Heart Foundation for Widows , Non-Profit Organization
Raise awareness and garner support for young widows in Nigeria, while actively working to dismantle the deeply ingrained stereotypes surrounding widowhood in Africa, particularly in Nigeria. We are committed to challenging these harmful societal perceptions and fostering an environment where widows are empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity, strength, and opportunity. Through advocacy and community engagement, we seek to transform the narrative and ensure widows are not defined by their loss, but by their resilience and potential.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a supportive and empowering environment where widows can thrive, providing them with the essential resources to navigate and overcome the challenges of grief with resilience. We are also committed to raising societal awareness about the distinct challenges faced by young widows, fostering greater understanding and advocacy for their empowerment and well-being.
Our Mission
We are a foundation committed to offering holistic support to young widows and their children, addressing their mental, spiritual, emotional, and financial needs. Having personally experienced the profound impact of losing a spouse, I am dedicated to empowering widows to transition from grief to strength, resilience, and empowerment. My work focuses on challenging societal norms and breaking down the stereotypes associated with widowhood, creating a supportive and inclusive community where widows can not only heal but also thrive, achieve their potential, and redefine their futures. Through strategic initiatives and advocacy, I aim to foster environments that provide the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary for widows to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

September 2024 School Fees Campaign
Over the past two years, we have invested more than ₦50 million in critical support for young widows and their children. These funds have been allocated towards school fees, housing, therapy, feeding, and outreach programs, ensuring their well-being and stability. In September 2024, we will continue this commitment by covering the school fees for 400 children of widows, attending both primary and secondary schools. As the new term approaches, we recognize the financial demands it brings. To assist with these expenses, we will provide up to ₦50,000 per child, with a maximum of two children per family. To maintain our standard of transparency, all payments will be made directly to the schools' accounts.
Raised: ₦ 20,000,000
Goal: ₦ 20,000,000

Adopt a Widow
I thought about how different demographics of women are supported in other climes. In some countries, single mothers are given an allowance. I thought of how it will be great if widows in Nigeria could get an allowance every month. Through our foundation over 35 widowed families have been adopted by different individuals and they are being supported with an income every month Basically donors can look through our date base and pick any widowed family they would like to support. It has been so successful since its inception in June 2022 and the lives of widows are being changed. You can go through our widows list to adopt.

When a young woman becomes widow a lot of responsibility falls on her shoulders. She becomes enveloped with the challenges of life including raising young children. She forgets she is still beautiful, wanted and valued. Society encourages her to hide and she forgets what it is like to have fun. that is the objective of date a widow. Once a month, I take a widow out on a proper date, much like when a man takes a woman out. I tailor the date to meet the specific need of the widow. I get a car to pick her up, take her shopping, wine and dine her at a beautiful restaurant, get her to unburden and talk to me about anything and I send her home with more food. It is an opportunity for me to make another widow sis feel seen, loved, beautiful and validated and to remind her that God loves her.
